i’m not mentioning the new weight watchers commercial for the reason you might think.
it shows a busy “on-the-go” woman who clearly has a lot going on, and the new weight watchers online site makes it easier for her to track her food consumption and thus lose weight. job well done. but it’s the blackberry storm that she picks up while out to dinner that caught my eye.
we’ve seen product placement in television, movies, even songs and subsequent music videos, but rarely do we see a product getting some serious air time in a commercial not its own. i like the idea. welcome the idea. i’m all for the idea. not sure if weight watchers consulted rim for the use of their blackberry, and if rim ponied up any money for the cost of the spot… doubtful. but i think it’s something to think about. how when weight watchers worked with their agency on this spot, and they wanted to convey a “working woman all too busy”, they gave her a blackberry to play the part.
and i liked the orange cookie monster-esque figure. guilty.
